Progress

PRAISE GOD I was able to actually sing this morning. It's what I've been praying for for days. I'm still coughing and blowing my nose since, but I was able to do my thing this morning. Thank you, God!

I found this Poli-Toon this morning. I quite like it.

Reunion Decision
I've decided not to go to my 40th high school reunion next month. My "logic" is that I'd need about $500 for the trip, largely because I'd have to rent a car to go. Since all I still have is what's in savings, with nothing new coming in, I feel I cannot afford to spare that much money. And when I can afford it, I'll make a separate trip there since all the people I really want to see still live there.

I've probably made this a more difficult decision than it needs to be. But I often straddle the line between stepping out on faith or being a bad steward of the money.  So this is where I fall this time. And now my mind is freed up on this, at least.

But that's it until tomorrow.

Better, still...

Slowly feeling better. But the cough is a killer. I have a long way back to normal. So, hopefully, I can form a decent blog post by the end of the week. In the meantime, here are a few Poli-Toons.

Restless Nights

3:35am
Sinus and chest congestion keeping from sleeping for the second night in a row. *sigh*  So I may as well do this as I listen to a podcast of Ben Shapiro and Dr. Jordan Peterson waxing wise. I continue to choose to embrace the proven and documented approach to sociality in our current times. And, of course, with the guidance of my Holy God. How do you keep the craziness of our time from making you crazy? First, focus on the Word of God. And second, read and listen to others that speak His truth.

But enough of that. So here are some poli-toons (political cartoons).

Summer Colds and Stuff

There is an old saying that summer colds are the worst kind. And, frankly, I think I agree. For me, it's not that the cold is any worse, but it feels more miserable because of the horror of the summer heat and humidity. So, yeah, I'm not feeling my best this week. More than likely it's a sinus infection rather than cold. But it's still miserable. I keep Tylenol, MucinexDM, nose spray, and my YETI fill of ice water within arms reach at all times. I thank God for the rain to keep it a little less hot outside, and easier to keep it cooler inside. But it's always something, right?

Independence Day
Today is the day we celebrate or recognize our independence from England of old. At least many of us do. But there is much irony in this in our society at this time. We've got much of the government, mass media, celebrities, and citizenry who would rather see us fall back into a much less free state. Marxism and socialism, in general, are being embraced longed for. A governmental and social system that gives up our personal freedoms to a larger and oppressive government. A system where our rights are taken and, in all too many cases, our very lives.

I think of the saying, "those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it." I would say to these people, "Read a book!" However, our history has been in a process of being rewritten for the last couple of decades to something that doesn't even resemble the truth. Books of history have been replaced by books of propaganda.

But these socialist factions are not equal. The main difference is, the politicians and celebrities have enough money to isolate themselves from most harm that the changes they seek would bring. But that they have to gain is more money and more power. But then the average citizen that they're manipulating is, more often than not, financially lacking. Especially the college students and young adults. They are being used as pawns, figurative cannon fodder, for the politicians. The citizens have all to lose. The irony is that most of the citizenry are well-intentioned. Whereas the politicians/celebrities/media are not. They are only thinking about themselves. They believe that they are above and outside of the law. That they are immune to consequences. That's why when they get caught or if something doesn't go their way, they blame anyone else, rather than accept their responsibility (yes, I'm especially talking about you, Bill and Hillary).

I don't know what's going to happen to my country. I do know that it almost makes me relieved that I didn't have children to have to go through it. And I definitely am thankful that I am as old as I am now, and that I won't live to see how bad it may get.

So I thank the Almighty God for letting me live in a free country. The greatest country in history. And I pray for those many who are falling victim of those who would destroy it. My God bless our leaders. May He make them strong and resilient. May He open the eyes of our people who value posturing and virtue signaling over care for our own citizens. And may He use the rest of us to help make these things happen.

God Bless America!!
