Summer Colds and Stuff

There is an old saying that summer colds are the worst kind. And, frankly, I think I agree. For me, it's not that the cold is any worse, but it feels more miserable because of the horror of the summer heat and humidity. So, yeah, I'm not feeling my best this week. More than likely it's a sinus infection rather than cold. But it's still miserable. I keep Tylenol, MucinexDM, nose spray, and my YETI fill of ice water within arms reach at all times. I thank God for the rain to keep it a little less hot outside, and easier to keep it cooler inside. But it's always something, right?

Independence Day
Today is the day we celebrate or recognize our independence from England of old. At least many of us do. But there is much irony in this in our society at this time. We've got much of the government, mass media, celebrities, and citizenry who would rather see us fall back into a much less free state. Marxism and socialism, in general, are being embraced longed for. A governmental and social system that gives up our personal freedoms to a larger and oppressive government. A system where our rights are taken and, in all too many cases, our very lives.

I think of the saying, "those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it." I would say to these people, "Read a book!" However, our history has been in a process of being rewritten for the last couple of decades to something that doesn't even resemble the truth. Books of history have been replaced by books of propaganda.

But these socialist factions are not equal. The main difference is, the politicians and celebrities have enough money to isolate themselves from most harm that the changes they seek would bring. But that they have to gain is more money and more power. But then the average citizen that they're manipulating is, more often than not, financially lacking. Especially the college students and young adults. They are being used as pawns, figurative cannon fodder, for the politicians. The citizens have all to lose. The irony is that most of the citizenry are well-intentioned. Whereas the politicians/celebrities/media are not. They are only thinking about themselves. They believe that they are above and outside of the law. That they are immune to consequences. That's why when they get caught or if something doesn't go their way, they blame anyone else, rather than accept their responsibility (yes, I'm especially talking about you, Bill and Hillary).

I don't know what's going to happen to my country. I do know that it almost makes me relieved that I didn't have children to have to go through it. And I definitely am thankful that I am as old as I am now, and that I won't live to see how bad it may get.

So I thank the Almighty God for letting me live in a free country. The greatest country in history. And I pray for those many who are falling victim of those who would destroy it. My God bless our leaders. May He make them strong and resilient. May He open the eyes of our people who value posturing and virtue signaling over care for our own citizens. And may He use the rest of us to help make these things happen.

God Bless America!!
